Demyx stood on the edge of the stage, smiling out at the director sitting in the audience seats.  His grin never faltered and was brighter than ever.  The director looked at him, shrugging before speaking.

"Well, show us what you've got lad," the director yelled towards him.  Demyx nodded at the director than towards the pianist.  The intro to his song began and he looked out at the director, but his eyes were glazed over as he began to sing.

"I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I'm meant to be....
" Demyx's voice filtered through the theatre with passion and wonder, his tenor sound clearly meant to be doing what it was.  The director shifted forward on his chair, tilting his head in appreciation.  Demyx moved to down stage right, his smile widening as he sang the chorus.

"I'll be there someday
I can go the distance
I will find my way
If I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile
Will be worth my while
When I go the distance
I'll be right where I belong....
" Demyx held his arm up, reaching for what he wanted, theoretically.  His voice rose to reach even the darkest corner of the auditorium, his voice never faltering or breaking for a moment.  He spun on the last note and landed in a bow.  He looked up at the director expectantly.  "That's all I'd like to do, sir.  Thank you for your time."  As the boy was about to leave the director stood.

"What, you're going to leave me hanging there?" The director exclaimed, shocked at the boy's tactics.  Demyx just smiled.

"I intrigued you didn't I?"

Like a shooting star
I can go the distance
I will search the world
I will face its harms
I don't care how far
I can go the distance
Till I find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...
- I Can Go the Distance, Hercules
